ScopeWith the hypothesis I am investigating I will be unable to interview actual players from the NBA so my primary data is limited to people in my local area. My data is exclusive to the NBA only and I will not be taking data from other sports or other basketball leagues for example the NBL. I will not be comparing every single player in the NBA as this would take huge amounts of time. I will be comparing only the top 15 highest paid and top 15 highest skilled players. |
How Contracts Work |
In the NBA the league is given a salary cap which determines the maximum amount of money teams can spend on their players in that given season. This is done in order to even the playing field as up until the 1984-85 season there was no salary cap and the level of skill in the NBA was too unevenly distributed. Players are given contracts to play for certain teams that can extend to a maximum of 5 years. Players with higher contracts are generally given higher contracts based on the influence in which they have on the court. However it is possible for players to receive higher contracts than others without having to play extremely well on the court due to the ever increasing salary caps allowing teams to offer these players more money

Acquiring Data |
I will be acquiring My data from two different websites to avoid being biased and have mixture of data. The data i am acquiring is based of of both physical stats. This being the money earned by players. And also the opinions of people based off of votes. This being the top 15 players based off of their skill levels. The data will then be compared with my secondary data to provide a valid response to as weather. I will be using a combination both qualitative and quantitative data. The salary of the basketball players as well as their stats that I have gathered fall under the category of quantitative data as it can be measured.
